Permissions, privacy, and admin controls

ChatGPT workspace admins control whether the app is enabled and which Google app actions are permitted; Google Workspace admins approve the OAuth scopes, which currently include Drive read and write scopes plus Docs, Sheets and Slides write scopes. Administrator-managed Drive indexing is configured separately by eligible workspace admins. Enterprise/Edu apps are disabled by default; Business apps are enabled by default.

  • Existing Drive permissions are respected; the app cannot exceed the connected user's Drive access.
  • Drive actions can change or delete real files. Keep them approval-gated until they have been tested in your workspace.
  • Disconnecting stops future access but does not remove information already retained in prior conversations; delete affected conversations and related memories when removal is required.

    Confirm your plan and workspace action controls permit Google app actions, ask a Google Workspace administrator to approve the required scopes, then reconnect the app so the new scopes apply.

  • You expected a synced Drive index

    An individual connection is live access, not a personal index. Administrator-managed Google Drive indexing is a separate feature that an eligible workspace administrator configures.
