These recommendations compare connector architecture and documented capabilities — not model quality, pricing, context windows or general coding performance.
Current verified coverage
As of 4 Aug 2026, Connector Scout can document an available connection for 10 of 12 tracked apps on Claude, 8 on ChatGPT and 5 on Gemini. Gemini’s HubSpot connection is included in its total as a public beta. Gemini + Slack is separately documentation-verified as unavailable; every other blank below remains research pending rather than assumed unavailable.
Counts are useful only as a starting point. Claude’s Notion connection uses Notion MCP, for example, while ChatGPT distributes a Notion-made plugin. Both are available, but their setup and governance paths are different. Every status below links to the record it comes from in the connector relationship directory.

How to read the table: “Available” confirms a documented connection, not feature parity. “Research pending” means Connector Scout has not completed verification for that exact platform–application pair; it is not evidence that no connection exists. Custom-built integrations may also exist where no packaged connection is listed.

Which platform should you choose?
Choose Claude for the widest documented app coverage
Claude is the strongest default when the workflow crosses several business systems or relies on custom MCP. Its built-in Google Workspace connectors cover Gmail, Calendar and Drive; its Microsoft 365 connector covers SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Teams; and its directory and custom connector model extends to vendor-operated MCP servers such as Notion and HubSpot.
The tradeoff is operational. A directory connector and a custom remote MCP server do not carry the same ownership or risk. Check who operates the server, what tools it exposes, whether writes require approval and what happens if the server changes.
Choose ChatGPT for governed, reusable workflows
ChatGPT is a strong choice when the connection is one part of a reusable team workflow. A plugin can package skills with connector-backed capabilities, and workspace administrators can separately control plugin availability, connector access and allowed actions. ChatGPT developer mode also provides read and write MCP tool support for teams that need to test a custom server.
Its tracked coverage is broad across Google Workspace, GitHub, SharePoint, Slack, Notion and HubSpot. Do not assume that an app supports writes because it appears in the directory: Gmail and Google Calendar are retrieval-oriented in Connector Scout’s current records, while HubSpot and Notion document controlled action paths.
Choose Gemini for work centred in Google Workspace
Gemini has the clearest native fit when the source systems are Gmail, Drive and Google Calendar and users want to work from Gemini or the side panel inside Workspace apps. Its HubSpot connector also brings CRM context into Gemini and Workspace surfaces, although it remains a read-only, English-only public beta with plan and administrator requirements.
Gemini’s narrower result in this 12-app comparison should not be interpreted as a lack of extensibility across every Google product. Gemini CLI and Code Assist support MCP for development workflows, and Gemini Enterprise supports standard and custom connectors. Those are separate surfaces with different setup, administration and intended users.
Best platform by workflow
Google Workspace research and scheduling
- Choose Gemini for the most native Google experience across the Gemini app and Workspace side panels.
- Choose Claude when the workflow needs documented Gmail drafting, richer Calendar actions or Drive file creation.
- Choose ChatGPT when synced retrieval from Drive or combining Google context with a packaged team workflow matters more than direct Workspace placement.
Microsoft 365 knowledge and action workflows
Choose Claude. Its current Microsoft 365 documentation explicitly covers SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Teams. Optional write tools can send or organise email, manage calendar events, and create or update files after administrator consent. ChatGPT has a verified SharePoint app in the current dataset, but its OneDrive and Outlook records remain unverified.
CRM research and updates
Choose ChatGPT or Claude when HubSpot records must be created or updated. Both connectors respect HubSpot user permissions, document supported create/update actions and exclude delete operations. Choose Gemini only when read-only CRM retrieval inside Gemini or Google Workspace is sufficient and the beta requirements are acceptable.
Repository analysis
All three platforms have a documented GitHub path, but they are not equivalent:
- ChatGPT + GitHub: search and reference repository information, with optional sync support.
- Claude + GitHub: add selected files and folders to chats or Projects and refresh them manually; the documented connection does not provide commit history or pull-request metadata.
- Gemini + GitHub: import one repository snapshot into a desktop web chat; the snapshot does not sync and Gemini cannot write to the repository.

Custom internal tools
Choose Claude when the priority is adding a remote MCP server directly to a general-purpose assistant with minimal product switching. Choose ChatGPT when the connection will be packaged with repeatable instructions and distributed as a governed plugin. Choose Gemini CLI or Gemini Code Assist when the workflow is developer-centric, or Gemini Enterprise when the organisation is building a centrally governed enterprise search or agent system.
A five-step selection process
- List the systems that matter. Start with the three to five applications the workflow must actually use.
- Define the required verbs. Separate search, read, sync, create, update, send and delete. “Connects to” is not specific enough.
- Match the product surface. Confirm whether the capability exists in the web assistant, a desktop or CLI product, an API, or an enterprise platform.
- Review both permission layers. The AI platform may narrow access, but the connected service still determines what the authenticated account can see and change.
- Test a low-risk workflow. Use representative data, require approval for writes and confirm the result in the source system before expanding access.
Working through two or three candidates at once is easier in the side-by-side record comparison.
Security and governance considerations
Connector access increases the value of an AI assistant and the amount of trusted data it can reach. Start with the least privilege required for the workflow.
- Prefer official or vendor-operated servers over unknown third-party MCP servers.
- Review every exposed tool and parameter, not just the connector name.
- Keep write and delete actions blocked or approval-gated until they are tested.
- Use a dedicated or narrowly scoped service account when a shared workflow does not need an individual’s full access.
- Treat retrieved messages, documents and tickets as untrusted input because they can contain prompt-injection instructions.
- Confirm important outputs and completed actions in the source application.

A connection is counted as available only when official documentation confirms the platform–application relationship. Beta connections are labelled. Unverified records stay research pending, and absence is stated only when research supports an unavailable status.
Capabilities, plans, regions and administrator settings change frequently. Review the individual connection record and its dated official sources immediately before deployment.
